Happy New Year!
What are your traditions or rituals during new year to usher in good luck? At our house we usually wear something with polkadots and the lucky color of the year. We also buy round fruits for media noche. They say that polkadots and the round fruits simbolizes money. We also put coins at the front door and scatter it all over the house and also in the pocket (and shake to make some noise) for prosperity and wealth. And if you don't wan't some firecrackers/fireworks we usually make noise with kaldero and spoon or turotot to drive away the evil spirits or the negative energy.
As usual we refer to feng shui or the chinese lucky charms that if you have them at your house or if you bring with you everywhere in your wallet/bag or as accessories will give you good luck. These charms, sometimes in different shapes and sizes (sometimes used with semi-precious stones when worn as necklace or bracelet) simbolizes prosperity, wealth, success, love, safety in travel or safety for the house and for good health (depending on the symbol of the charm).
I hope 2007, the year of the pig will bring good luck and prosperity to everyone of us.

Paskong Lumipas!
Christmas is here!
Balak ko pumunta ng SM Mall of Asia para manood ng Dolphin Show kasama ang aking pamangkin, pinsan, tita at syempre ang buong pamilya.

Happy Halloween!

To all the kids out there happy trick or treating! Here in our village we had a trick or treat for kids last Sunday, October 29, 2006. It was organized by the officers and active members of our village association UPRA-3 and I was one of the younger residents of the village who was called up to join the committee. I was assigned to design the posters and nametags and also as street coordinator for the registration for the activity.
Over 200 kids in their Halloween costumes and 20 residents who gave treats participated in the UPRA-3 Halloween Trick or Treat. It was a success and the kids came home happy with their loot bags of assorted goodies.
It was drizzling in the morning, the sky was gloomy and rain clouds were forming. Thank God it didn’t rain that afternoon so the kids were not soaking wet while going around the village.

Mala Korean "Jewel in the Palace" Birthday Celebration
Shebe and Mylene

Ang dalawang ito nag-aagawan pa sa mga ingredients na
parangmauubusan e ang dami pa ngang nakalagay sa plato.

makuha-kuha gamit ng chopsticks ang mga ingredients.

Bulanglang ala Mylene
Very Filipino style of cooking.

Spicy Seafood naman ang timpla ng luto.

Medyo spicy but very tasty naman ang version ng dish.

Tamang tama lang ang timpla.
Not too spicy, not too salty and not too oily.

Matikman nga ang mga luto nyo... Ang mananalo sa "Jewel in the Palace Style Cooking Contest" ay mag-uuwi ng trip to Korea at mamamasyal sa Busan, Jeju Island, Seoul at Lotte World na matatagpuan sa South, Korea (joke lang! wala tayong sponsor na airlines o travel agency). At ang nanalo ay: it's a tie!
Pagkatapos magluto, kumain at magkuwentuhan. Walang kasawa-sawang pasyalan at shopping at kuhaan ng pictures.

Hoy bruha! Magpa-picture ka muna bago umalis!

Galit ba kayo sa akin at ayaw nyo ako isali. Huhuhu! (joke!)
